princess in the tower

i.
there’s a princess in a tower,
its walls are all she knows,
the nights are dark and the sun is weak,
but still she waits.

ii.
there’s a princess in a tower,
her nurse’s stories fill her days,
they will come for her one day, she knows,
and till then, she waits.

iii.
there’s a princess in a tower,
and her head is full of dreams,
cheeks rosy and eyes wide, she’ll be a beauty,
for now, she waits.

iv.
there’s a princess in a tower,
and she’s waiting for her prince,
now the nurse hears her stories;
for him, she waits.

v.
there’s a princess in a tower,
remembering her old world,
her friends are laughing while she’s rotting,
and she can only wait.

vi.
there’s a princess in a tower,
and her soul is cold as ice,
she wants no more princes,
but still she waits.

vii.
there’s a princess in a tower,
resentment is all she knows,
the nights are dark to match her heart,
and how she tires of waiting.
